For now, there are some boring things to take care of...vaccines (some are painful), visa (kind of confusing forms), money exchange, best rates, essential shopping (mosquito net, travel pillow, backpack, light baggy clothes, etc).

There is a dress code we must pay attention to...apparently we can't have exposed shoulders and bottoms must cover the knees. I wonder how hot and sweaty it will be, considering I will not be able to wear shorts and sleeveless tops.

I've done travel planning for previous international trips, but this one in particular, seems to be the most challenging, because the distances are huge and travel times are super high. It will be an interesting adventure for sure.

Por enquanto tem muita coisa chata pra fazer...vacinas (picada de agulha nunca é bom), visto (cheio de papelada para preencher), troca de moeda e pesquisa de melhores valores, compras essenciais como mosqueteiro, travesseiro de viagem, mochila, roupas leves e largas, etc.

Na India existe uma maneira de se vestir (que se aplica apenas às mulheres - claro), onde os ombros não podem ficar de fora, e as calças tem que cobrir os joelhos. Só estou imaginando como vai ser passar calor sem poder usar shorts nem blusinhas sem mangas.

Eu já fiz outros planos de viagens internacionais, mas essa está se mostrando bem complicada porque as distancias entre cidades e/ou locais turísticos são enormes e o tempo de viagem sempre longo. Certamente essa será uma aventura daquelas!

PRE DEPARTURE / Antes da partida

It all started with an email titled "An International Opportunity That Will Change Your Life".

This tittle stuck to me and as soon as I read the content of the message, I knew I had to be part of the project.

First, I would have to advocate for myself, then go through the process of writing, thinking, submitting, and meeting deadlines.

Done! I'm in!

The group of students joining this cohort is pretty diverse...nursing, social work, urban planning and nutrition. It will be interesting to see how all four disciplines will interact and come up with strategies to support the villagers we will be working with.

Tudo comecou com um email titulado "uma oportunidade internacional que vai mudar sua vida".

Esse titulo ficou martelando na minha cabeca e assim que terminei de ler o conteudo do email, eu sabia que teria que fazer parte do projeto.

Primeiro eu teria que defender as minhas razoes para ser aceita no programa. Depois disso, pensar, escrever, entregar tudo nas datas previstas.

Pronto, deu certo! Fui aceita!

O grupo de estudantes que fara parte desse projeto e bem diverso...enfermagem, servico social, urbanismo e nutricao. Sera interessante ver como cada disciplina vai interagir entre si, e tambem com as pessoas dos vilarejos onde vamos trabalhar.
